The family is the basic building block of a thriving nation. But even then, it faces a lot of problems that happen both internally and externally. It’s extremely important that we tackle these concerns to create a domino of generations that is composed of healthy family members. Here are five useful parenting workshops for you and your family.

The Mindful Nanny

Caring for a baby or toddler is definitely not an easy feat. It’s understandable and completely valid that most people might not get the hang of it or get it right in the first few weeks, months, or even years. You would have to take into account a lot of factors because how you raise and interact with them directly affects their development. Most important of all, every child deserves to be cared for with respect, right from the day they are born.

Topics of study include:

  • Attachment theory and the importance of the secure base
  • Respectful caregiving such as diapering, bathing, dressing, and feeding
  • Creating a safe physical environment that supports play, learning, collaboration, and independence.
  • The value and elements of child-led play.
  • Gentle discipline, including setting boundaries empathetically, time-ins, and natural and logical consequences.
  • Praise and growth vs fixed mindset.
  • Supporting children during disputes.
  • Supporting natural cognitive, socio-emotional and physical development.

The Mindful Nanny is a workshop organised and headed by Chapter Zero, an organisation that aims to make a change, one family at a time. They believe that kids deserve to have a childhood that does not inhibit freedom, gives them more space for play, and situates them in an environment that brims with respect to one another. In order to achieve its goal, Chapter Zero continues to create and facilitate in-house workshops such as ‘The Mindful Nanny.’ They also host talks and events with Nonviolent Communication trainers and organise their popular Pop-Up Adventure Playgrounds where children are given the opportunity for child-led play and family bonding.

Parent Effectiveness Training is another workshop created and organised by Chapter Zero. This particular workshop tackles and targets the major roots of the majority of a parent’s common problems that they face with their children.

Dr. Thomas Gordon, an award-winning psychologist and Nobel Peace Prize Nominee, created, tried, and tested this international program. Its learning outcomes include learning how to talk to your children so that they will listen to you, learning how to listen to them so they feel genuinely understood, how to resolve conflicts and problems in the family so that no one loses and problems stay solved and figuring out a method for troubleshooting family problems and knowing which skills to use to solve them.

With these newfound skills, techniques, and lesson you get to learn in this Parent Effectiveness Training, you and your children will be able to benefit in a lot of ways including:

  • Your children will feel free to discuss their problems and concerns with you instead of withdrawing.
  • They will learn self-discipline, self-control and an inner sense of personal responsibility.
  • You will learn how to work with each other instead of against each other.
  • You’ll experience fewer angry outbursts and more problem-solving.
  • Everyone can participate in rule-setting so all will feel motivated to comply with the rules.
  • Fewer power struggles–less tension, less resentment, more fun, more peace, more love.

Taking a step away from traditional counselling, the counsellor’s role is to support and encourage couples as they coach them through the assessment.

This workshop is suitable for committed couples, regardless of the stage or phase of life that you are at. If you’re interested in strengthening your relationship and learning new things about yourself and your partner, this programme is designed for you.
