What’s a more apt event for a child and their parent than a workshop on the basics of creating Valentine’s Day necessities! A purchase of a ticket will give you and your kid the opportunity to join a story reading session, bake your own Valentine’s Day cookies, make Valentine’s Day slime, and write a Valentine’s Day card. 

SoC’s Valentine’s Day Workshop is spearheaded by School of Concepts, a first of its kind award-winning curriculum. They focus primarily on literacy through engaging in phonics-based and play-based learning which make for the perfect fun and vibrant learning environment for the kids. They hold workshops and learning journeys for the children occasionally and this Valentine’s Day Workshop is one of them! They aim to broaden their experience and bring home valuable memories with their families as well.

Bond and connect with your kids in this Ombré Brush Lettering Workshop for Beginners! Happening this February 8, this workshop will have you create wonderful messages for your loved ones in beautiful ombre lettering by the end of the three hours. 

As it’s for beginners, the workshop will also feature lessons on the foundation of calligraphy – basic strokes, small and capital letters, drills and common phrases. Afterwards, the class will turn to an exploration of using coloured ink to create ombrè letterings. By the end of the three-hour workshop, you’ll be able to brush-letter a message (or more) for the people you love!

The workshop fee is inclusive of bring-home materials for each participant:

The workshop instructor is Stephanie Tan, a journal artist based in Singapore who sketches, letters, and paints on paper and nails. Her love and curiosity for lettering, doodling, and creating handmade cards led her to further master the skills needed to develop her interests. Have the past meet the present with this Disney exhibition until March 29! The exhibition features more than 500 exceptional art pieces that span over nearly a century and includes original drawings, sketches and concept art that have been specially curated by the Walt Disney Animation Research Library. These Disney characters–both past and present ones–are classics for children and adults alike!

Artworks on display range from the timeless classics like Steamboat Willie (1928) to recent blockbusters such as Moana (2016) and Frozen 2 (2019), allowing you to discover how Disney Animation developed its numerous animation techniques, from the simplest hand-drawn lines to the most elaborate computer-assisted creations, to bring beloved animated characters to life. the show includes projections, audio-visual displays and alluring exhibits that transport visitors into the world of Disney’s films using hands-on educational activities.

The new programme aims to introduce more practical, skills-based curricula in order to equip students and mid-career professionals with future-ready skill sets that the economy needs. Since then, MDIS has started hosting culinary and bakery workshops for students and the public to impart that same ethos!
